Royal Porthcawl is the #1 course in Wales and has a magnificent setting sloping down to the seashore. The absence of sand hills usually found on links, allows views of the sea from every hole, but some of the sand bunkers could conceal a tank. With holes facing into every point of the compass, the player is always tested by the wind and will probably need every club in the bag. The status of the course is sustained by the numerous amateur and professional events held at the Club. The first three holes skirt coast and the wind whips across the beach. The last four holes return to the sea and a wind that can blow a dead-on drive off at right angles to the fairway. 6,691-yard par 72 - Links.

Machynys Peninsula Golf & .C.C. is designed to challenge the best players in championship conditions and yet still be enjoyable for the higher handicapper, by utilising up to five tees per hole. Gary Nicklaus supervised the design on behalf of his father, the legendary Jack Nicklaus. He identified his favourite and most challenging holes as the 4th, 5th, 16th, and 18th. Naming the fourth, "the most unique, a short par 4 but a very challenging and a difficult one nonetheless." and "the 16th, a par 4 played across the lake from behind the clubhouse is probably one of the most beautiful holes on the course”. 7100 yards, Par 72 - Links

Pennard Golf Course is perched on cliffs in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The holes are routed over classically undulating and tumbling linksland, full of hummocks, hillocks and hollows with dunes large and small, exactly what we might hope to find beside the shore.  Yet this exceptional terrain is not beside the shore – it is 200 feet above sea level and often called “the links in the sky”. There is not a weak or simple hole on this gorse and heather framed.  Awkward lies and stances are a matter of course and the rugged terrain becomes even more dramatic on the back nine.  Beware also, the forty bunkers, which although not exceptionally large, are very well placed and sometimes lethal! 6,267 yard, par 71 -Links

Ashburnham Golf Course overlooks Carmarthen Bay, the first two and final two holes inland near the clubhouse. Holes three to eight strike out, parallel to the sea, straight into the prevailing wind and holes nine to fifteen run back with the wind directly behind. With out-of-bounds and assorted trouble on the right in both directions there is no peace for the slicer. Neither are the fairways of a generous width and the fact that the current course record is no lower then 70 bears witness to the credential of the challenge. 6950 yards, Par: 72 -Links
