Valderrama Golf

Valderrama Golf, Sotogrande, surpasses its reputation as number 1 in Europe. It hosted the Volvo Masters (1988-96), the Ryder Cup (1997) and the World Golf Championships (1999-2000). Each hole has a Professional tee (6356 metres), a Club Championship tee (5994), an Executive tee (5498) and a Seniors' tee (5053), as well as a ladies Professional tee (5294)

Alcaidesa Links Course at San Roque is the only Links golf course in southern Europe.   The land slopes towards the sea, ending in a beautiful beach.  Most of the holes are close to the beach. The course can be very difficult depending on the strength of the prevailing wind. You will enjoy spectaculars view over the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and Africa (5866 metres or 6415 yards, Par 72).

Alcaidesa Heathlands Golf at San Roque was designed by the renowned former Ryder Cup player Dave Thomas. It offers a variety of landscapes ranging from the plateau area (holes 1 to 5, 17 and 18) that is similar to a heathland course, to the valley area where the holes meander along and incorporate several water hazards.  It has wide fairways and outstanding views of the Mediterranean. Alcaidesa Links Course


Almenara Golf Club, Sotogrande is a challenging 27 hole course with undulating greens and stunning views. It is surrounded by cork oak trees, wild pines and has several streams as well as a natural lake providing testing water hazards. Each 9 hole loop has eye catching feature holes that will test and excite all golfers. (6218 metres or 6800 yards, Par 72).

La Cañada Golf Club, San Roque,  is in the hills next to Valderrama and open to some wind. The long first hole sets the tone for a tough round of golf and the 4th is a trek into the unknown with no view of the green until the third shot. Challenging fairways, fast greens, and spectacular views make this an ideal course for those who want to bask in the sun and enjoy being surrounded by nature. (5917 metres or 6471 yards, Par 72).

Almenara Golf Club


La Reserva Sotogrande, is generally ranked in the top 10 courses in Spain. The course is surrounded by two valleys characterised by native vegetation of pine, olive and cork trees. It is spacious, greens and fairways are large and wide, bunkers are also large with variety of form. Five starting tees are available at each hole. The layout includes four lakes, with water on six holes. (6721 metres or 7350 yards, Par 72). Picture to right.

Sotogrande (Real Club de Golf Sotogrande), is often ranked in the top ten courses in continental Europe. It has mature vegetation with pine, cork oaks, eucalyptus and giant palm trees enhancing the natural beauty of the surroundings. The greens are large and the contours of the greens are typical Trent Jones. The bunkers were the first in Europe to be filled with brilliant white crushed marble. (6224 metres or 6807 yards, Par 72).

San Roque, Old Course, San Roque, is rated amongst the finest in Europe, it has staged the Spanish Open and for many years the European Tour School finals. The San Roque Club sits on an enviable backdrop surrounded by lush hills and historic cork oak woods. The club is set within 340 acres of peaceful and natural Andalusian where the ancient Cork Oaks dominate the landscape. (6134 metres or 6708 yards, Par 72).

San Roque, New Course, San Roque, has fairways are beautifully maintained and lined with cork trees. The immaculate greens are extremely quick and, large steep bunkering is a feature with wonderful white crystallised sand giving a perfect surface from which to play out of. The fourth hole called “Seve’s Tee” is spectacular, 217 yards from the back tee, over a ravine with trouble down the left side. (6079 metres or 6648 yards, Par 72).


San Roque, New Course



Finca Cortesin Golf Club, Casares, is one of the Costa del Sol’s most prestigious and beautiful courses.  The signature par-4 13th is rated one of the best holes on the Costa. Often fiercely protected by an array of stylish, white-sand bunkering, the expansive putting surfaces contain many subtle slopes and borrows, complemented by more obvious and equally testing undulations. (6858 metres or 7500 yards, Par 72).

Atalaya Golf Club, Old Course at Estepona, has wide fairways, large elevated greens, and spectacular views of the magnificent La Concha mountain.  Its gently sloping fairways makes it an ideal course for the average club golfer - but plentiful bunkers, fast greens, lush vegetation and fairways lined with olive, pine, cactus and eucalyptus trees prove a challenge for single-figure players as well. (6146 metres or 6721 yards, Par 72).

Atalaya Golf Club, New Course offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean and Gibraltar and is seen as one of the most natural courses on the coast. It is parkland with gently undulating fairways and large, fast greens. It would be fair to say that, in general, hazards are obvious but still manage to trap the unwary. Care is needed off the tees and the wild hitter will soon encounter difficulties. (5142 metres or 5623 yards, Par 71).


Estepona Golf Club, Estepona is renowned for superb, consistent putting surfaces. It has very strong par 3’s which include the difficult but beautiful 14th hole and its Sierra Bermeja mountain range backdrop. The green of the par four 10th is almost surrounded by water. At 250 meters from an elevated tee, it can be played by laying up with a mid-iron, but many brave souls are tempted to go for it! (6003 metres or 6565 yards, Par 72).

Valle Romano Golf, Estepona, is in a unique enclave between the sea and mountains; you can see the sea from all of the holes. It has been designed to be part of the European Tour with all of the features required for hosting competitions. The design guarantees the enjoyment of amateur golfers, while it can be transformed into a challenging circuit for professionals. (6371 metres or 6967 yards, Par72).


Estepona Golf Club


Flamingos Golf Club, Old Course, Estepona, has splendid views of the Mediterranean, Africa and Gibraltar. The fairways are lined with cypress, orange, olive, pine, carob and chestnut trees. The course is in beautiful shape with crushed marble bunkers, large greens and authentic Italian statues. The fairways are narrower on the front nine, where more precision playing is required than on the back nine. (5907 metres or 6460 yards, Par 72).


Flamingos Golf Club, Old Course


Alferini Golf at Estepona is a true challenge and one of the few par-73s on the Coast. It has large, generous greens and some fairways require pinpoint accuracy. With four large lakes water comes into play on several holes. Out on the course there is a feeling of peace and quiet, a lack of noise, because Alferini Golf is truly in the midst of nature, a lush valley within the mountains of Benahavís. (6600 metres or 7218 yards, Par 73).

La Duquesa Golf Club, Puerto de la Duquesa, is hilly with superb scenery. The course is great fun and quite tricky to play with some of the most breath-taking, spectacular holes you will ever see. Many holes have sloping fairways and there are some quite severe dogleg holes with blind tee shots. Your interest is kept going for the whole round and you never quite know what to expect next!  (6054 metres or 6621 yards, Par72).

Monte Mayor Golf Club, Estepona, is a unique venue and one of the toughest in the country. It has tortuous terrain plunging down ravines, climbing hillsides, crossing gorges with numerous elevation changes; some call it ‘mountain golf’. You will love it or hate it, bring plenty of balls and don’t expect to play to your handicap. The location is tranquil and views spectacular. (5520 metres or 6037 yards, Par 71).

Doña Julia Golf Club, is at Casares near Estepona and is noted for its enormous slick greens, some of which exceed 1,000 sq. metres. The whole course is built to the standards of the USGA. The opening nine is the most demanding with tight tree-lined fairways and water hazards, while the closing stretch is more forgiving, but has superb views of the famous coastline. (5976 metres or 6535 yards, Par 71).

Santa Clara Golf Club

Santa Clara Golf Club, Marbella, has wide fairways with light rough but water comes into play on many holes and the greens are well bunkered. "Santa Clara Corner" consists of the 12th, 13th and 14th holes, a combination of pars 4,3 and 5, that requires precision golf.  The front nine has two par 3s, 6 par 4s and one par 5. The longer back nine has two par 3s, five par 4s and 2 par 5s. (5940 metres or 6496 yards, Par 71).

Cabopino Golf Club, Marbella, opens with two straightforward par-4s but the third hole is special. From the tee, the fairway is some 200-metres below in a valley. When the fairway is reached the approach shot is to an elevated green protected by a large bunker. Other good holes are the 5th needing a good straight drive and the very attractive par-3 seventh 7th. (5194 metres or 5680 yards, Par 71).

Marbella Golf & Country Club is just five minutes away from the cosmopolitan city of Marbella. It has been imaginatively designed to fit the natural terrain and make the most of the spectacular Mediterranean backdrop. Each hole is uniquely challenging, although the 9th hole in particular, featuring several lakes and bunkers, is guaranteed to put even the most skilful golfer to the test. La Quinta Golf Club

La Quinta Golf Club, Marbella is on top of the hills overlooking the Marbella golf valley. It is a technically demanding course with narrow, sloping fairways and plenty of hazards to negotiate before reaching the fast, tricky to read greens. There are 27 holes, an 18-hole course and another of 9 holes which can be combined to form 3 possible courses. (5895 metres or 6447 yards, Par71).

Los Arqueros Golf Club, San Pedro de Alcantara (Marbella) was the first course to be designed by Seve Ballesteros, set in beautiful tranquil surroundings in the mountains of Sierra de Ronda. It is a challenging layout and each nine holes has its own distinct personality. Accuracy and direction rather than length are the key factors in producing a good round. (5667 metres or 6197 yards, Par 71).


Los Arqueros Golf Club

Los Naranjos Golf Club, Marbella is a typical Robert Trent Jones design with generous fairways, strategically placed bunkers and water hazards, long terraced tees and large undulating greens. The club has been the host of several mayor competitions, including the Spanish Open, and is ranked amongst the best golf courses in Spain. It is set amongst fragrant orange trees from which it gets its name. (6532 metres or 7143 yards, Par 72).

Santana Golf & Country Club

Santana Golf & Country Club is a magnificent course with wide fairways and greens surrounded by bunkers filled with crushed marble sand. Water features play an important part in the overall design. The 8th hole is 595 metre (650 yards) currently the longest hole on the Costa del Sol while the 12th  is an excellent Par 3, playing downhill to a large undulating green.  (6203 metres or 6712 yards, Par 72)

Alhaurin Golf Club at Alhaurin de la Torre is a Seve Ballesteros designed course in a truly natural setting with spectacular views over the Mijas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. The fairways follow through the ups and downs of hilly terrain and the greens are well protected. The 6th hole is special starting high on the course for your tee shot and continuing through a dogleg to the green. (6045 metres or 6610 yards, Par 70).



Calanova Golf Club

Calanova Golf Club, Mijas has a spectacular layout that enables players to use strategy during the whole round. The greens have an average area above 500 square metres. and there are a variety of fairway layouts allowing players to see all hazards before hitting the ball. Calanova Golf has extraordinary landscape views, including views of the sea and Mijas Mountains on nearly every hole. (5866 metres or 6415 yards, Par72).

Santa Maria Golf & Country Club is in two valleys, streams and lakes form natural hazards. The front nine has a number of short par-4s that require some finesse to negotiate. The par-4 sixth hole, played to an elevated green, is followed by three excellent holes. The seventh is a terrific par-3 played from an elevated tee. The 11th is quite a spectacular hole with a lake and waterfall beside the green. The finishing stretch of three holes at Santa Maria is quite strong and the course is very well maintained. (5586 metres or 6052 yards, Par 70)

El Chaparral Golf Club, Mijas-Costa is known for the quality of its greens that are kept in great condition all year round. This spectacular course is surrounded by a forest of pine trees and excellent views can be enjoyed throughout the course.  It is one of the only 18 hole courses in the region with six par-3s, six par-4s and six par-5s and is quite a challenging requiring high levels of accuracy and skill. (5800 metres or 6343 yards, Par 71).


El Chaparral Golf Club

Torrequebrada is just outside of Benamadena it is a tough test of golf and accuracy of the tee is of prime importance. You are faced with steep terrain, elevated tees, ravines, numerous bunkers, water hazards and eight doglegs, making it a great challenge. Most holes are fair except for the 2nd that has a big tree in front of the elevated green making a difficult tee shot. (5852 metres or 6329 yards, Par 72).

Sanlucar Golf Course

Arcos Gardens has views over the historic the cliff-top town of Arcos de la Frontera. With wide, forgiving fairways it still manages to place a premium on accuracy as you approach the greens. Greens are of medium size with moderate, but not severe contour. With five - six tees on every hole and strategically located bunkers and lakes, the course presents a variety of challenges. (6750 metres or 7382 yards, Par 72).

Sanlucar Golf Course is near the seaside resort of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. It combines two very distinct styles. The first 9 has a British links course feel with testing winds, curving fairways, large open greens and small deep bunkers. The second 9 has an American feel with seven water hazards, high teeing areas, several doglegs and fast greens divided more sharply by plateaus and undulations. (6574 metres or 7189 yards).

Montenmedio Golf Course is in the rolling Dehesa hills amongst many century old trees. It has sweeping generous fairways, glassy greens and demanding bunkers. The four par-5 holes are long and complicated by doglegs with the 550m 12th being a model par-5 hole. Montenmedio is a thriving reserve of wildlife with deer, foxes and eagles and noisy intrusions are virtually non-existent. (5930 metres or 6485 yards, Par72).

Benalup Golf is a natural course with views over the "La Janda" valley and the "Los Alcornocales" natural park. The course is quite flat, with abundant trees, water hazards play an important role with 7 lakes coming into play on holes 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 13, 14 and 17. The greens are large and some are quite undulating. The 13th is spectacular with a small lake in front of the green. (6104 metres or 6675 yards, Par 73).


Montecastillo Golf Club is a Jack Nicklaus design and has hosted many professional tournaments. The terrain is undulating terrain with raised teas, plateaued fairways, large greens and bunkers. Water comes into play on 5 holes. The course is kept in very good condition and the practice facilities are excellent. (6456 metres or 7060 yards, Par 72).

Golf El Puerto is situated in El Puerto de Santa Maria on the bay of Cádiz close to the Atlantic Ocean. It is a long course, mostly flat with fairways  framed by trees, typical for this region .Nine lakes are linked by streams, and dog legs and bunkers giving variety and complexity for all to enjoy. Its generous greens are true and fair a constant challenge for the players. (6480 metres or 7087 yards, Par 72).

Novo Sancti Petri, Chiclana de Frontera, has three courses, Mar-Pinos, Centro and Campano that offer challenging golf over quite long courses with many water features and great bunkering including an S-shaped bunker after Seve!  The green at hole 6 on Mar Pinos is the most spectacular with extensive sea and beach views. (6460 metres or 7065 yards, 6071 metres or 6639 yards, 5840metres or 6387 yards, all are Par 72).

Villa Nueva Golf Resort

Villa Nueva Golf Resort in Puerto Real, close to the historic city of Cadiz. There are a number of dog-legs, 90 bunkers and 5 lakes that give the course visual impact and add excitement to the game. The greens are above average size and there is a good mix of holes. It has a spectacular final two holes, a par-3 and par-5 where the expanses of water will test the nerve of every visitor. (6141 metres or 6653 yards, Par 72).


Sherry Golf

Sherry Golf near Jerez features many beautiful lakes, views over the sherry vineyards and one bunker which in the shape of a horse’s head, reference to the world famous performing horses of the region. Eight holes are directly affected by water. From the 13th to the 16th its water water everywhere and almost certainly means losing a ball or two.  (6572m or 7187 yards, Par 72).

Costa Belena Ocean Golf Club has 27 championship holes and a 9-hole par 3 course. Jose Maria Olazabal designed the course which is flat and easy walking with just slight undulations. Some holes follow along the coast; there are strategically placed bunkers and lakes dotted around this versatile course. It has staged several tournaments. (6302 metres or 6892 yards).

El Rompido Golf Club

Costa Esuri Golf Resort is just 3 km from the Portuguese Algarve border, and 10 minutes from the beaches of Ayamonte in Isla Canela. The West Course is American style, with very wide fairways, exquisite shaping of the greens and spectacular views to Portugal and to the Guadiana River. The prevailing wind off the Guadiana River brings added challenge to the layout. (6675 metres or 7300 yards, par 72).

Costa Esuri Golf Resort East Course has seven lakes and is very well integrated in the slope towards the salt marshes of the Guadiana River, and with views to the sea and the town of Ayamonte. It is a more technical course than the West one. (6309 metres or 6900 yards, par 72) Handicap minimums Men 28, Ladies 36.

 

Nuevo Portil is a magnificent parkland golf course, characterised by wide fairways and fast, smooth, receptive greens. It has gentle slopes and dog legs providing a challenge for all standards of golfer. There are three excellent par fives. Superb club has a full spa for your after-game pampering and relaxation, swimming pool, club-cleaning service and well-appointed changing rooms.  (5841 metres or 6328 yards, Par71).

El Rompido Golf Club, Cartaya, Huelva, Western Andalusia is surrounded by the natural marsh areas with some splendid views of the Atlantic Ocean. The South Course is divided into two nines of very different characteristics in terms of technique and landscape. The fairways are lined with marsh; pine wood, orange and olive trees demand precision from the golfer. (6148 metres, par 72).The hilly North Course has excellent views large greens and is considered by many the best course in this area.  (6095 metres, par 72)

Isla Canela Golf Course, Huelva is skilfully and sympathetically built into the surrounding nature reserve. The natural dunes provide gentle undulations as golfers negotiate the numerous lakes in the layout. Strategic placement of bunkers and the integration of the river into several holes means that the course can challenge even the best golfers. (6248 metres or 6833 yards, Par 72).

Islantilla Golf Club, Isla Cristina, Huelva, features 27 parkland holes in woodland scenery with spacious fairways and large greens, water, sea views and a climate with more than 300 sunny days per year. It has hosted various prestigious tournaments. (5926 metres or 6481 yards, Par 71)

Bellavista Golf is situated in the countryside near the city of Huelva in western Andalucia. It is much trickier than you might think, quite undulating and there are several long par-4’s and par-5’s, as well as a few tight fairways. The oldest part of the course is characterised by numerous pine trees and some interesting doglegs, with plenty of opportunities to hit the ball out of bounds. (5739 metres or 6217 yards, Par 70).

Monte Rei Golf Club

Monte Rei Golf Club, Vila Nova de Caçela. "Monte Rei North" – is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, a truly unique design; with water coming into play on eleven of the eighteen holes, the course features an enjoyable series of eight par-4s, five par-3s and five par-5s in a challenging and distinctive layout. It is set in the picturesque foothills of the Eastern Algarve. (6567 metres or 7182 yards, Par 72).

Quinta de Benamor, Tavira, Algarve, is undulating but not hilly. The views of the mountains to the North and the Atlantic Ocean to the South are stunning. The indigenous olive, cork, carob, fig and almond trees, many centuries old, feature are attractive but shots have to be accurate to avoid them. Water hazards and sand bunkers are located to test the strategy and striking ability of the player. The greens and tees are simply superb a well maintained, course. (5497 metres or 5955 yards, Par 71).

Quinta do Vale Golf Resort, Castro Marrin, was designed by Severiano Ballesteros. A championship layout with 6 Par-5´s, 6 Par-4´s and 6 Par-3´s. The course has numerous dogleg holes, wide fairways and obstacles all set in breath-taking surroundings. The challenge awaits you at Quinta do Vale Golf Resort. (6206 metres or 6723 yards, Par 72)

Castro Marim has 27 holes: Guadiana has fast true greens protected by bunkers, inviting elevated tees and dogleg fairways carved out of canyons are features of the course. The fourth hole on the Atlantic Course features in the book '1001 Golf Holes you must play before you die', edited by Jeff Barr. The Grouse Course has rolling terrain with fewer trees. The elusive Iberian Lynx has been seen on when playing early in the morning. The courses are teeming with wildlife including wild boar, birds and rabbits. (2508m, 3017m, 2757m, Par 71)

Quinta de Cima

Quinta de Cima and sister course Quinta da Ria, are in a spectacular location east of Tavira, Eastern Algarve. They have similarities: gently undulating terrain, fast and true greens, excellent shallow bunkering, relatively infrequent use of water hazards and immaculate presentation. The Cima is the bigger championship course, although not quite as scenic as the Ria, being set further back from the sea. The strong back-nine contains one fabulous hole after another. (6256 metres or 6777 yards, Par 72 and 6053 metres or 6557 yards, Par 72).
